We spotted Ryoshisushi Ikeikemaru while walking around Liang Court one afternoon and vowed to return after seeing the uni (sea urchin) which is possibly our greatest food weakness. Thus we returned a week later for dinner already dreaming of all the sashimi that we were going to have.

Ryoshisushi has a system where most of the sushi is separated into price categories - $1.80, $2.80, $4.80 and $6.80 and also has some sets which were quite value-for-money. Honestly, the variety was amaaaazing! There were many different types of sushi that we had never even heard before, which sets Ryoshisushi apart from many other Japanese sushi restaurants.

 

Other than sushi, Ryoshisushi has a variety of fried dishes, grilled fish dishes as well as udon. We liked the grilled salmon collar and I liked the corn croquette (personal weakness).



The most disappointing part of the meal was that because we arrived for dinner (and an early dinner at that), a lot of items were already sold out! We ordered a Fuji set ($49) only to find that there was no more uni, which was disappointing even though the staff kindly cancelled the order for us. Because of that we didn't get to try a lot of the sushi that we originally wanted to, but I guess that it just reason to return!

Here are some of our top picks of the meal:
Salmon Belly, Crab Miso (might not appeal to everyone though!), Negitoro (minced tuna gunkan), Katsuo, Hamachi, Maika (all other ika/squid was unavailable)

Nonetheless, there were some misses that maybe required an acquired taste such as the Albacore



Ryoshisushi is definitely worth the return trip as it serves a wide variety of fresh and authentic sushi at fairly affordable rates and hopefully I get to have my uni, hotate and amaebi next time!
